It locates in the Fuglebakke quarter of Frederiksberg. The goal is to preserve the majority of the existing interior architecture following a recent renovation of the house prior to the takeover.The color scheme mainly comprises of warm beige tones with accents of oak wood, adding a playful touch with vibrant colors to balance its Scandinavian, norm-core aesthetic. The walls and ceilings are painted with dolomite plaster, giving a uniform tone that creates an enlarged illusion within space.In collaboration with Vermland and Studio Alice Chan, we introduced unique bespoke furniture to seamlessly blend with the surroundings. The key idea is to integrate built-in furniture with its surrounding walls, while also carving out walls to bring natural light to a previously dark space. <img width="3064" height="4538" renovation to address several challenges. Previously, the lack of natural light required artificial lighting throughout the day. Additionally, the bedroom was affected by cooking odors from the adjacent restaurant's kitchen. Despite these obstacles, the owner desired to maintain the functionality of two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a large living room, and an open kitchen with an island, all within a compact 90 sq.m. space. To maximize space utilization, the architect incorporated elements of Thai design, such as the practical patio known as "Charn," located in front of the house. This area serves multiple functions while maintaining flexibility. The overall aesthetic combines Scandinavian retro elements with a color scheme featuring grey bricks, white flooring, and warm-tone wood. The strategic planning of the renovation allows for a seamless flow through the house, creating an impression of spaciousness. The restrooms were positioned at the back of the house to act as a barrier against the restaurant's unpleasant odors and the intense afternoon sun. Location : Bangkok,Thailand Space : 350 sq.m. Status : Constructing Din Dang House is a townhouse renovation project designed for a family of six. The building, which was previously a bottle factory, now serves as their residence. The 1st floor, once filled with production line machines, features a generous floor-to-ceiling height of 4.2 meters. However, the existing house faced challenges in terms of natural light distribution within the space. To address this issue, a unique solution was implemented in the form of a light tunnel integrated with a staircase. This design element effectively brings natural light from the rooftop down into the inner courtyard, creating a well-lit and inviting space for the family to gather and interact. Solar-Roasted Chicken The project was initiated by Sila Sutharat, a Thai vendor restaurant owner who has been utilizing pixelated-concave-mirror panels to harness sunlight for cooking for over 20 years. Drawing inspiration from the Thai neo-vernacular space present in his restaurant, my project explores the adaptive relationship between objects, architecture, and sunlight in its design. Sila, a 60-year-old restaurant owner with a 4th-grade education, exclusively grills meat using solar power. He devised reflective sun panels consisting of 1000 small mirror planes. Prior to this innovation, he relied on charcoal for cooking, like many others. One day in 1997, while situated next to a road, he noticed the heat generated from the sunlight reflected by passing buses. This prompted Sila to ponder whether this heat could be converted into usable energy. Since then, he has been cooking solely with sunlight. However, this space has evolved and adapted through user experience, undergoing various rearrangements. The lightweight furniture enables the owner to easily experiment and make adjustments. Despite its seemingly unorganized nature, the space possesses its own rhythm and workflow that the user finds comfortable to follow in this working station. It serves multiple purposes, functioning as a kitchen, washing area, and even a garage for Sila's motorcycle. The decision to park his bike inside stems from the lack of shade outside, and the space appears vacant, making it a convenient choice. While the users feel comfortable in their working space, I believe there is room for organizing and optimizing the area. By utilizing the "Frankfurt Kitchen Motion Mapping method" to observe and analyze movement patterns, I can gain a deeper understanding of the space. To facilitate the organization of the food production space, I propose implementing a color-coding system. This system will enable users to easily learn and remember where to place objects or communicate instructions to new users. This investigation enables me to determine the optimal direction and route for solar panels and receivers, as well as identify suitable locations for new buildings that will not obstruct sunlight to the roasting area. The frame is wrapped with fabric, allowing the pavilion to adapt to its surroundings. In addition to the ever-changing sky, the lighting within the space also varies based on sunlight. Cabin Project by&nbsp; Chana Mahayosanun Damir Draganić Dorte Handschuh Louise Monreau This project is part of a tectonic workshop that explores architecture through a physical model approach. The focus is on designing a 25 m2 house that can be constructed without requiring permission in Sweden. The concept of this windowless house stems from the idea of privacy, which is achieved through a solid wall layer, giving it the appearance of a bunker house. The only connection to the surroundings is provided by the transparent roof, which hovers above the solid wall. The roof features a waffle structure that allows for minimal column support, while also acting as a louver and time indicator. On sunny days, the roof casts intriguing shadows. The wall material chosen for this design is metal, which is also connected to the chimney, allowing the wall itself to function as an induction heater. “Shadow is a connection between outside and inside.” Taking inspiration from Richard Serra's art installations, this house aims to become a living art installation itself. Utilizing weathering metal, the outer wall serves as the threshold between the interior and the outside world. As one moves through the corridor, the living room is revealed, with the fireplace serving as a central element around which the space is organized. The bed area is designed with three layers of wall wraps, creating the most private and intimate space within the house. The bathroom is strategically located at the back, further enhancing its privacy and seclusion, as it is shielded from direct sight. 100 The project theme for Store Kongensgade 100 in Copenhagen is "Copenhagen Temporary." This building, previously a police station, is currently undergoing restoration to be transformed into student housing. The exploration revolves around the concept of "temporary" and its various timeframes and meanings. To delve into the notion of temporary, different durations were considered. Hourly functions, such as a café or library, daily functions like Airbnb or hotel accommodations, monthly arrangements for short-term contracts, yearly purposes for student housing or expat living, and even four-year contracts for couples were examined. Taking into account the building's historical significance, it consists of a combination of two structures, with commercial spaces on the ground floor and residential areas on the upper floors. Leveraging the concepts of temporary and the building's history, a mixed-use design proposal emerged. The programs are stacked vertically, with increasing levels of privacy and longer-term functions situated higher up in the building. Preserving the existing column grid and flooring, the design maintains the structure's integrity. By referencing the grid system and tempo of the former police station, the design highlights these elements while ensuring the building remains connected to its surroundings. The square is surrounded by a variety of programs, including a library, nursery, school, restaurants, clinics, shops, cultural houses, and a mix of residential apartments and detached houses. Notably, it is also home to the oldest church in Copenhagen, the Brønshøj Church. My main focus was on the pavement and flooring elements in this area, as they have direct contact with the users. I began by studying the characteristics of the existing pavement materials and used that knowledge to create a designated route that guides users towards the church. By observing and registering the pavement, I employed the same design language to enhance the user experience before they enter the church. The texture of the pavement serves to imply boundaries, indicating where to stop, walk, or where entry is restricted. The concept behind MANA Mailbox revolves around integrating functions into a partition instead of a traditional wall. In this case, the fence acts as a boundary for the house. The mailbox section is designed with two doors—an exterior and an interior door.
